BUTTERWORTH 28 Oct 2026— The long-awaited construction of the Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) crematorium project at Jalan Siram here officially kicked off this morning with a traditional Vasthu Pooja groundbreaking ceremony.

Bagan Dalam state assemblyman Kumaran Krishnan attended the event to represent the PHEB.

In Hindu tradition, a Vasthu Pooja is a sacred prayer ritual performed prior to breaking ground on a new construction site. The ceremony seeks divine blessings to honour the land while praying for peace, safety, prosperity, and the smooth progress of the impending civil works.

The spiritual milestone marks the formal commencement of the PHEB Crematorium Building Project, which aims to provide essential, long-term funeral services and facilities for the Hindu community across Seberang Perai.
